MCP connectors

What the Model Context Protocol is

The Model Context Protocol, MCP, is an open standard for connecting an AI application to the systems it works with. An MCP server offers tools, each with a name, a description and the shape of its input; an MCP client, such as ChatGPT or Claude, reads that list and calls a tool when the person's request needs it, then uses the answer. A tool is marked read-only or writing, and its annotations describe its effects. Confirmation depends on the client's permissions and settings.

A remote server speaks the protocol over HTTPS and signs people in with OAuth: the client registers itself with the server, the person signs in on the server's own page and allows the client, and from then on every tool call is made as that person, with exactly their access. Nothing is shared with the client but what the tools answer.

What the connector is

The connector is Cracked Robot's MCP server, at https://api.cracked.bot/mcp. Its tools are Amy's hands: the same tools she uses on a project, offered to ChatGPT, Claude and compatible clients, and used as you. They come in three groups.

  • The board: epics, tickets, comments, attachments and the shared memory, read and written; the project's systems.
  • AI session: the sessions and their runs, the budget, the pull requests: create, read, steer and stop.
  • AI machine: the project's machines: add, read, checkpoint, restore, rebuild or destroy. Direct shell commands and a machine console are unavailable.

A tool on a project names the project and its workspace by their slugs, as the portal shows them. What stays with people, in the portal: workspaces, members and approvals, creating a project, connecting providers, and every token or key. The connector cannot create, rotate or delete a credential, and reaches only the projects assigned to the account that signed in.

How it meets the product

  1. A workspace owner sets a project up in Cracked Robot and assigns you to it.
  2. You connect an MCP client and sign in with your Cracked Robot account.
  3. You ask your connected client for something on the project; it picks the tool, calls it as you, and answers from what the project says.
  4. Every change lands on the board like any other, recorded as yours, where the people and Amy see it.

Working with your project

Cracked Robot helps you build applications for your chosen platform. Start with the application's purpose, requirements and target platform in a project. Railway hosts Cracked Robot; your application can target another platform. Connect the repositories and services that your project needs in the portal.

  1. Name your workspace and project, then ask for a summary of epics, blockers and shared memory.
  2. Review the budget, machine and session settings before starting work that can incur costs.
  3. Use sessions to carry out application work, and record bugs as tickets with reproducible steps.
  4. Inspect the returned run status, verification results and pull requests before treating work as finished.
  5. If a tool fails, use its reported error to resolve access or setup in the portal before retrying.

In a compatible ChatGPT development connection, use https://api.cracked.bot/mcp and authorize your existing Cracked Robot account. Availability depends on the client and workspace settings; this page does not indicate directory approval. Ask, for example, "Summarize progress and blockers on project [project] in workspace [workspace]". If those identifiers are missing, supply them before a change.

Data and connected applications

Authorizing an MCP client creates an authorization record. Its requests include tool arguments such as project identifiers, queries and content to save. It receives the records and results your account may access. Writes become project records and may appear in the resource's history or audit trail.

Remove the connection under CONNECTED APPS to end future access. This does not delete existing project records or copies already returned to the client. The client provider governs its handling of those copies. Customer services remain governed by the applicable signed agreement and Data Processing Addendum. The Website Terms and Privacy Policy also cover API and MCP access within their stated scope; using a different interface does not change which agreement applies.
